The Archonaut is back

An interesting first foray into the blogosphere... I had to go through a "spam blog review" process with Google/blogspot, which took just about the two business days their alert promised (and which temporarily cut me adrift). Blogspot calls the overly eager spam blog identifier a "known issue." Do all new blogs get caught, I wonder?

Art Libraries $2,500 Internship Award

Applications for the 2008-09 Art Libraries Society of North America Internship Award are due Wednesday, October 15, 2008. The award provides financial support for students preparing for a career in art librarianship or visual resources curatorship. The winner receives $2,500 to support a period of internship in an art library or visual resources collection. If you're currently enrolled in a graduate program in library science, art history, studio art, or museum studies, or you've completed a program within the past 12 months, you're eligible to apply. You choose your internship site.

ARLIS/NA offers one internship award per year. See their website for other paid and unpaid internships in the field. They're currently listing recent or ongoing opportunities at the UCLA Arts Library, Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian, the Warhol Museum, and other institutions around the U.S.

According to the ArLiSNAP blog, two years ago there were over 60 applications for this award. If I were a student, I'd like those odds.
